Development advancements in Regensburg's principal road network system
In a significant development for cyclists in and around Regensburg, two new sections of the city's bike route network have been officially completed. The first section of route rr01, connecting Kneiting to the Regen Mouth, and the entire length of route rr12, leading from the BMW plant in the south to Haslbach in the north, are now open for cyclists.
The completion of the first section of route rr01 marks a milestone in the expansion of Regensburg's bike route network. This western section, stretching from Kneiting to the Regen Mouth, has been marked and is now ready for use. Meanwhile, the decision to mark the new cycling route rr12 was made by the City of Regensburg, and the route has been carefully planned to incorporate several major roads and towns.
Route rr12, part of an expanding regional bike network around Regensburg, offers a seamless journey through the city. It passes through key locations such as Max-Planck-Straße, the Odessa Ring, and Pilsen-Allee, providing cyclists with a well-signposted route. In the north, Wenzenbach is connected to the new bike route rr12 via the Falkenstein Bike Path.
The new bike route rr12 also benefits from the wayfinding system with pictograms used on route rr05, ensuring a consistent and user-friendly experience for cyclists. This system, along with detailed information about the Regensburg Main Bike Route Network, can be found online at www.regensburg.de/radlrouten.
Another exciting addition to the network is the new bike street along the European Canal, now part of Regensburg's main bike route network. This expansion further cements Regensburg's commitment to sustainable and active transport options, offering cyclists a safe and enjoyable journey through the city and its surroundings.
The completion of the first section of route rr01 is a separate event from the marking of route rr12, which is scheduled for the second half of September. As these new routes are added to the network, Regensburg continues to demonstrate its dedication to providing high-quality cycling infrastructure for its residents and visitors alike.
