Portuguese Auto Production Falls in April

Portuguese vehicle manufacturing experienced a notable decrease in April 2025, with only 27,226 vehicles produced, marking a 11.4% drop compared to the same month in the previous year. According to the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP), a total of 108,472 vehicles were produced in the country during the first four months of the year, representing a 14.1% decline.

In the four-month period from January to April, Portugal produced 83,640 passenger cars (-19.6%), 1,075 heavy vehicles (-36.2%), and 23,757 light commercial vehicles (+15.5%).

In a separate development, Dubai Police unveiled a new addition to its ultra-luxurious police fleet – a bespoke Rolls-Royce Cullinan luxury SUV, extensively modified by the German tuning house Mansory. This Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which serves as a tourist patrol vehicle in Dubai, features a 6.75L twin-turbo V12 engine, 8-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive, and performance capabilities that allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 280 km/h. The vehicle is adorned with premium carbon fiber and aluminum components for enhanced aesthetics and performance.

This Rolls-Royce Cullinan is one of several high-performance and exotic vehicles in Dubai Police's fleet, including the Tesla Cybertruck, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti Veyron, and heavily modified Mercedes-AMG G63 tuned by Mansory. The addition of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan marks a continuation of Dubai Police's strategy to showcase their commitment to safety visibility, engage tourists, and reinforce Dubai's image as a premier luxury destination.

What about the impact of this trend in the finance, transportation, automotive, and even the overall industry in Portugal? In light of the surge in luxury vehicles in Dubai's police fleet, one can't help but wonder if such investments will soon be witnessed in the Portuguese automotive industry to boost its image and revenue.
