Decrease in Inflation Rates
Neuss, Rhein-Kreis. October saw a 3.1% increase in consumer prices in North Rhine-Westphalia compared to the same month in 2022, marking the lowest price hike since June 2021. The core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 4.1%.
Accommodation and catering services jumped by 7.1%, and food prices escalated by 6.1%. Particularly, bread and cereal products surged by 11.1%, and fruit followed close behind with a 10.0% increase. Conversely, heating oil prices dropped by 18.9% and edible fats decreased by 11.8%, including a 28.1% drop in butter prices.
Comparison with September 2023 revealed cheaper carrots (-10.7%), potatoes (-9.7%), and cucumbers (-7.5%). However, tomatoes (+26.2%) and grapes (+11.1%) saw significant price hikes between the two months.
