Debut unveilings at the 2025 NY Auto Show, encompassing innovative concept SUVs and fresh electric vehicles
The 2025 New York Auto Show, held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, marked its 125th anniversary with a showcase of cutting-edge concepts and highly anticipated production models. The event saw several notable debuts across a range of manufacturers, reflecting a strong emphasis on electrification, performance, and luxury.
One of the standout debuts was the Genesis X Gran Equator Concept, a stunning off-road SUV that combines rugged off-road prowess with refined luxury. Genesis also introduced the GMR-001, a high-performance hypercar, signalling the brand's push into the extreme performance segment alongside their luxury offerings.
Hyundai made a significant splash with the all-new 2026 Palisade three-row SUV making its North American debut at the event. The Palisade is targeted at families looking for spacious, well-equipped SUVs, highlighting Hyundai’s design evolution and tech upgrades.
South-Korean manufacturer Kia added to its EV line-up with the reveal of the EV4, an electric sedan. Built on Kia's 400V E-GMP platform, the Kia EV4 comes in two battery options and delivers between 235-330 miles of range. Inside, the Kia EV4 cabin is bright, airy, and welcoming, with Kia promising an affordably priced vehicle.
Japanese automaker Subaru debuted the 2026 Trailseeker EV, its second all-electric SUV. The Trailseeker, featuring a taller roof, expanded cargo space, and a spacious cabin, has a slightly bigger size compared to the Solterra. It boasts an over 260-mile range, advanced all-wheel drive system, and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The Trailseeker also debuts a striking new Subaru EV lighting signature, including an illuminated six-star logo, revamped headlamps, and a bold new front bumper.
In addition to car displays, the show featured live talks, exhibitions, and racing simulators. Visitors had the opportunity to test drive cars on special tracks both inside and outside the building. The Maserati GT2 Stradale, Toyota GR Supra MkV Final Edition, and a blue 2023 Ferrari SF90 Spider owned by comedian Tracy Morgan were other standout vehicles.
The event also celebrated classic cars, with displays of the 1955 Packard Caribbean, 1957 Cadillac Eldorado, and 1958 Buick Limited. Overall, the show underlined ongoing trends toward electrification, advanced lighting tech, and luxury performance vehicles.
Meanwhile, Genesis also revealed its first full-scale race prototype, the Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar, designed for the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA SportsCar Championship. The Genesis X Gran Equator Concept and the all-electric Chrysler Halcyon and the adventurous Kia Weekndr were among the futuristic concept cars showcased.
These debuts reflect a strong emphasis on electrification, performance, and luxury, with Hyundai and Genesis particularly focused on expanding their SUV lineups while Genesis ventures into hypercar territory. Kia continues to refine its compact offerings with stylish, tech-forward updates.
