The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt played a significant role in maintaining the financial health of the European Union and ensuring the safety of its citizens in 2023. With a workforce of 700 employees, the office collected approximately 1.8 billion euros in taxes and import duties.

The office's revenue in 2023 was comparable to the previous years, with 1.9 billion euros in 2022 and 1.7 billion euros in 2021. The strongest revenue streams for the Schweinfurt Customs office in 2023 were customs duties and import VAT (1.08 billion euros) and excise duties (408 million euros).

Around 25 million euros in taxes on alcohol, tobacco, sparkling wine, and coffee were collected in 2023, with more than 31 million euros in beer tax going to the Free State of Bavaria as tax revenue. The customs offices, including those in Aschaffenburg, Bamberg, Bayreuth, Coburg, Dettelbach-Mainfrankenpark, and Schweinfurt-Londonstraße, monitor the flows of goods for import and export and process international email and parcel shipments. They also ensure that no inferior medicines, unsafe technical products, or counterfeit products are imported into the European Union.

In 2023, the Financial Control of Black Work, a unit within the Schweinfurt Customs, was successful in combating the shadow economy. They imposed custodial sentences totaling around 53.5 years (642 months) and fines totaling over 53.6 million euros. In the previous year, over 4,200 criminal proceedings and nearly 300 penalty proceedings in the field of customs and excise offenses were concluded at the Central Penalty and Fine Office North Bavaria.

The customs office is also committed to being a responsible employer. It offers a family and life phase-oriented work policy, good starting pay, and exciting workplaces, making it an attractive employer. The office is currently training 96 trainees in the higher and middle customs service, including those in the newly designed Bachelor of Laws degree program starting March 1, 2024.
