Creedence Clearwater Revival Breaks Records on the Billboard Charts
Creedence Clearwater Revival's musical journey might have been short-lived, spanning merely half a decade, but the impact they left on the rock genre is enduring and impressive. Their discography, limited as it may be, has left a lasting impression on music charts worldwide.
Recently, their iconic compilation album, "Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits," has stood the test of time, currently residing on the Billboard 200 for an astounding 728 weeks, equating to 14 years. This mind-blowing feat places it among an exclusive group of albums that have sustained such a remarkable longevity in the U.S.
Joining the ranks are a select few gems in the music industry, such as Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" (990 weeks), Bob Marley and the Wailers' "Legend" (869 weeks), Journey's "Greatest Hits" (839 weeks), and Metallica's self-titled album (771 weeks). These albums have demonstrated an unparalleled resilience on the charts.
As "Chronicle" marks its 14-year milestone on the Billboard 200, it has slipped slightly, settling at No. 65. Yet, this minor dip is common for an album that has already amassed an impressive list of accolades on the chart.
Despite this minor setback, "Chronicle" continues to flourish, racking up 13,700 equivalent units in the latest tracking period, with over 2,200 of those units being actual sales. These sales were enough to propel the album back onto the Billboard Top Album Sales chart, securing a spot at No. 50.
Furthermore, "Chronicle" maintains its reign on two other Billboard rankings, the Top Rock Albums and the Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts. It has remained a consistent force on these charts, holding strong positions at No. 9 and No. 12, respectively, for more than 400 frames.
