Is it a gift or a loan? Lilly Becker and TV honcho Pierre Uebelhack can't seem to see eye to eye on this issue. Their disagreement landed them in the courtroom, and a partial verdict was reached in April.

In a settlement hearing in February, the reigning RTL Jungle queen declared that her alleged ex-beau had generously handed her the cash. However, Uebelhack vehemently insisted that the six-figure sum he shelled out to Becker during her financial woes was a loan, and he demanded its return. On April 16, Uebelhack scored a win at the Munich Regional Court, and his plea was granted in full. Becker has to cough up the dough, according to Bild reports, with Uebelhack seeking 154,733 euros in principal and an additional 27,961 euros in allegedly lent funds. He also demands 32,248.19 euros in interest and 3,311.18 euros in legal fees.

But Lilly Becker isn't backing down, as per RTL sources. The 48-year-old is said to have filed an appeal against the ruling before the deadline on May 16.

Becker's Claim: It's a Gift, Not a Loan

According to reports, Uebelhack and Becker got together in 2018 – or so she claims. But he denies a committed relationship. Despite this, he's said to have generously lent the moderator a total of €489,869.12 during their time together to help her weather her financial storm. The repayment deadline for Becker's ex-husband, Boris Becker, was August 31, 2022. However, she maintained that the money was a gift within their alleged romantic relationship. Uebelhack allegedly has signed loan agreements to prove Becker was aware the funds were a loan. But she alleges that her digital signature was tampered with in court.

Judge Robert Engelmann ruled in April that "Becker hasn't been straightforward." "Based on the evidence at hand, the judge is convinced that the undisputed funds transferred were not a gift but a loan claim. As such, it's assumed that it should be repaid," RTL court spokeswoman Cornelia Kallert explained at the time.

Enrichment Data:

To shed light on whether the transaction between Lilly Becker and Pierre Uebelhack was indeed a gift or a loan, and the current repayment status post-court ruling or appeal, we need more intricate details concerning the case. However, I can unveil some general insights about such financial disputes:

  1. Transaction Nature (Gift versus Loan):
  2. Understanding whether a transfer is classified as a gift or a loan hinges on the intent of the parties involved at the time of the transaction. A loan generally involves an agreement specifying repayment, while a gift does not.
  3. In court disputes, judges examine documents, communications, and other evidence to understand the parties' intentions and determine the transaction's nature.
  4. Court Ruling and Appeal:
  5. A court ruling would decide whether the transaction was a gift or a loan based on the evidence presented.
  6. An appeal would contest the initial ruling, potentially leading to a different outcome if the appellate court finds inconsistencies in the initial judgment.
  7. Current Repayment Status:
  8. If the court rules the transaction a loan, the repayment status would depend on the terms set by the court. If repayment is ordered, both parties would be expected to comply with the court's guidelines.
  9. If an appeal is ongoing, the repayment status might be put on hold until the appeal process is complete.
  10. Lilly Becker is challenging the court's ruling, which classified the six-figure sum given to her by Pierre Uebelhack as a loan instead of a gift, by filing an appeal before the deadline on May 16.
  11. In the event that Becker's appeal is denied, and the court continues to consider the money as a loan, she may need to consider alternative means such as corporate financing or vocational training programs to generate the funds necessary for repayment. This could potentially involve seeking vocational training in the business or accounting sector to gain the skills required for obtaining a better-paying job, which could help her meet her repayment obligations.
