Construction Project Underway on Saar Road in Bous (Highway)

The State Road Authority (LfS) will commence bridge work on the L 168 (Saar Street) in Bous, Germany, from August 21 to August 25, 2023. This project aims to renew the corrosion protection on the suspension structure of the bridge that crosses the Saar River between Bous and Wadgassen.

Due to the nature of the work, a detour will be necessary for trucks exceeding 7.5 tonnes. The detour will exit at the Wadgassen interchange onto the A 620, proceed onto the B 269 over the Saar, continue to the Ensdorf interchange, and return to the Saar Street on the B 51.

This detour is an additional measure to accommodate the needs of larger vehicles during the bridge work. Regular-sized vehicles will not be affected by the detour. However, drivers should be aware of potential traffic disruptions and allow for adequate travel time.

The work will be carried out in two phases and will involve a half-lane closure, resulting in one-way traffic in the direction of Wadgassen. Due to the narrow lane width, traffic flow may be affected, especially for trucks.

For the exact detour route used during this period, drivers are advised to check archived news or official announcements from the Bous municipality or Saarland authorities. If you need current detour information, consult the official websites or contact local authorities directly.

For more information, visit the websites of the Saarland Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitales and Energy or the Bous municipal office. You can find regional contacts under “Strassenverkehr” (traffic) or “Straßenbauverwaltung” (road construction authority) for the Saarland Ministry, and check the “Aktuelles” (News) or “Verkehr” (Traffic) sections for the Bous municipal office.

During this bridge work, transportation planning needs to consider the detour for trucks exceeding 7.5 tonnes, as they will exit at the Wadgassen interchange onto the A 620, proceed onto the B 269 over the Saar, continue to the Ensdorf interchange, and return to the Saar Street on the B 51. This detour is particularly relevant for the industry and finance sectors that rely on timely transportation. Drivers should plan accordingly and be aware of potential disruptions, especially for larger vehicles, due to the half-lane closure and possible traffic congestion.
