Construction of the "MYND" tall building project at Alexanderplatz, previously occupied by Galeria Kaufhof, is currently in progress.

In the heart of Berlin, the high-rise project 'Mynd' in Berlin-Mitte is making significant strides. After the summer of 2023, Commerz Real, a leading real estate investment manager, became the sole owner of the project following the purchase of the remaining 80 percent from Signa.

The purchase price for the high-rise, which will stand tall at 134 meters and span a planned area of 100,000 square meters, was not disclosed, but industry insiders speculate a sum of around one billion euros. Construction on the site began in January 2024, with the first crane being erected in November 2023.

However, the identity of the new construction company handling the 'Mynd' project remains undisclosed in the search results, leaving the name of the company that will take over the construction from Züblin unclear.

Meanwhile, the Covivio high-rise project 'ALX' at Alexanderplatz is back on track, and the 'EDGE East Side' high-rise in Friedrichshain has already been completed. The 'Steglitzer Kreisel' apartment project is expected to be ready for occupancy in 2025.

The termination of the contract with the originally planned constructor, Signa Real Estate, has caused numerous real estate projects in Berlin to come to a standstill due to the company's insolvency. Yet, the 'Mynd' project continues to progress, with activity increasing on the site after a quiet period towards the end of the year.

One positive note is that the Galeria department store connected to the tower will continue to operate in the future, providing a bustling hub for shopping and leisure activities.

As the 'Mynd' high-rise project moves forward, Berlin residents and visitors alike look forward to the city's skyline continuing to evolve with this impressive new addition.
