Construction of Mekong Delta's major roadway expected to wrap up by September.

The Lộ Tẻ - Rạch Sỏi Highway, a significant route connecting Cần Thơ City and An Giang Province in Vietnam, is undergoing an upgrade with a projected cost of VNĐ750 billion (US$28.6 million). Despite being a busy route, construction is ongoing, with vehicles still being allowed to pass through the site.

As of the start of August, the upgrade is 72% complete. The remaining work focuses on traffic safety and culvert reinforcement, with both scheduled to be completed by September. The pavement of the highway with two layers of asphalt will be finished in August, and a traffic safety system is expected to be in place by the same month.

The upgrade aims to improve the transportation infrastructure in the region, enhancing regional connectivity. The work involves expanding the existing road to a 4-lane expressway standard, with significant construction segments, such as roadbed widening, pavement laying, and bridge upgrades, either completed or in the final stages. Key structures like bridges and interchanges are either completed or undergoing finishing touches.

Ancillary works, such as drainage systems, lighting, safety barriers, and signage, are being installed concurrently. Some sections may still be under active construction or awaiting final quality inspections. The project, initially targeted for completion by late 2023 or early 2024, is on track for completion within this timeline, though minor delays could occur due to weather conditions or logistical challenges.

Once completed, the highway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Cần Thơ and An Giang, fostering better trade and tourism links. For real-time updates, it is advisable to refer to official sources such as the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam or local government announcements from Cần Thơ City and An Giang Province.

It's worth noting that the work to upgrade the highway is not widening the existing road or requiring additional lands. Weather conditions are favorable for the completion of the upgrade on schedule. With 22 construction teams working on the project and around 200 workers, the Lộ Tẻ - Rạch Sỏi Highway upgrade is a significant step towards improving transportation infrastructure in the Mekong Delta.

The weather conditions are favorable for the completion of the upgrade on schedule of the Lộ Tẻ - Rạch Sỏi Highway, a significant route connecting Cần Thơ City and An Giang Province. The finance sector is heavily involved in the upgrade, with a projected cost of VNĐ750 billion (US$28.6 million), and the industry sector is witnessing this large-scale transportation infrastructure improvement, contributing to the enhancement of regional connectivity.
