Construction machinery industry thrives in Munich during Bauma 2022, affirming the city's dominance in the field.
Bauma 2022, the world's largest construction machinery trade fair, took place in Munich, Germany, and was organised by Messe München GmbH. The event, which focused on construction machinery, construction material machines, mining machinery, construction vehicles, and construction equipment, showcased numerous customer innovations, good business deals, and attracted many international visitors.
Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of Bauma 2022. Approximately 3,200 exhibitors from 60 countries participated in the event, with the share of international exhibitors standing just under 65 percent. The share of international visitors was around 50 percent, with over 495,000 visitors from more than 200 countries attending.
The event served as a platform for pioneering innovations and new partnerships in a sector challenged by global issues. Major focus was placed on sustainability, digital construction sites, alternative drives, and future construction methods, with safety and ergonomics improvements for construction workers.
One of the exhibitors, PERI, showcased new formwork, scaffolding technologies, and digital tools such as the myPERI Customer Portal and a live 3D printing demonstration, highlighting the event’s emphasis on tech innovation. Sennebogen also emphasised the event’s role as a "strong heart of the industry" and as a positive stimulus for construction and material handling industries internationally.
Although the number of exhibitors and visitors at Bauma 2022 was slightly lower compared to the 2019 event, the top ten exhibiting countries remained largely the same. In order, these were Germany, Italy, Turkey, the UK and Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, France, the USA, Austria, Spain, and China.
The next Bauma event is scheduled to take place in Munich from April 7 to 13, 2025. With the success of Bauma 2022 and 2025, it is clear that this event continues to be a powerhouse of the construction machinery industry and a significant player in driving global trade.
The successful conclusion of Bauma 2022, with a focus on sustainability and tech innovation, demonstrated the event's impact on the global manufacturing industry, particularly finance, as businesses forged new partnerships and showcased customer innovations. In the ensuing years, Bauma is expected to remain a key player in shaping the financial landscape of the construction machinery industry and driving global trade.
