Company Secures €140M Deal for 28 Electric Trains in Germany

Our company has secured its first call-off from a framework agreement with DB Regio, supplying 28 electric trains for DB Regio NRW GmbH in North Rhine-Westphalia. This significant deal, worth around €140 million, marks a milestone in our partnership.

The trains, set to operate as S5 and S8 in the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) from 2014, will be manufactured in Salzgitter, where we have previously produced 141 similar vehicles. They are designed with passenger comfort in mind, featuring a spacious interior and a wide central aisle.

These modern trains boast a top speed of 160 km/h, accommodating up to 170 seated passengers and 173 standing. They can be operated with double and triple traction, ensuring efficient service. Safety is prioritised with movable sliding steps for safe boarding and alighting. Moreover, they are equipped with electrical brakes that feed energy back into the network during braking, contributing to sustainability.

Accessibility standards are another key aspect. The trains will have disabled-accessible toilets and features aiding mobility-impaired and visually impaired persons, making travel more inclusive.

Our company's 28 electric trains, manufactured in Salzgitter, will soon be serving passengers in the VRR. With their speed, capacity, safety features, and accessibility standards, they promise a comfortable and efficient travel experience. This contract, valued at around €140 million, underscores our commitment to innovation and quality in rail transportation.
