Cologne's Attenberger-Dom-Straße Renovation Skips Planning Permission

Cologne's local authority has confirmed that no planning permission procedure is needed for the upcoming improvements on Attenberger-Dom-Straße. The city's legal argumentation has been deemed sound.

The planned redesign adapts the street to modern standards, enhancing safety and managing traffic more effectively. It does not increase motor vehicle traffic capacity. The city's local authority, the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, has concluded that the planned changes do not constitute a significant alteration, but rather a repair and optimisation of the existing infrastructure. Therefore, no plan approval procedure under § 38 StrWG NRW is required.

Cologne's Attenberger-Dom-Straße will undergo renovations without needing planning permission. The redesign focuses on safety and traffic management, with no increase in motor vehicle capacity.
