Coal miners at SUEK-Krasnoyarsk mark a new milestone: shipping 2 billionth tonne of coal

June 24, 2025: The Unforgettable Day of Coal

Take a step back and behold the momentous occasion that unfolded in the heart of Siberia. On this day, the coal mines of SUEK-Krasnoyarsk – Borodinsky, Nazarovsky, and Berezovsky – sent 2 billion tonnes of brown coal off into the world, a remarkable feat since the inception of these mines.

The celebrations were nothing short of spectacular, bringing together the cream of the crop from coal industry leaders across the nation, regional and local authorities, coal veterans, and the next generation of workers. It was a gathering of people united by a shared passion for the rich history and promising future of coal.

"Coal has always been and continues to be a reliable fuel source, powering industries and fueling social infrastructure, providing warmth and light to millions of people in Siberia," remarked Alexander Redkin, the CEO of the coal company, welcoming the guests. "It's symbolic that the 2-billionth tonne of coal was mined in the year we celebrate 80 years of Victory. This is a testament to the enormous contributions that coal miners and workers in Siberia have made to the modern development of Russia."

A traditional orchestra from the Republic of Khakassia and a soloist from the Opera and Ballet Theatre of Krasnodar Krai performed a special concert at the Berezovsky mine pit to commemorate this monumental occasion. As they played their heartfelt melody, the frontline workers sent the jubilee tonne of coal to eager consumers. The distinct honor of loading the celebratory coal was bestowed upon the most experienced operators of excavators and locomotives, who have dedicated over a decade to coal mining.

Igor Ivanov, a decorated mining legend, acknowledged the powerful symphony of coal: "For me, the coal symphony is the sound of loading, the sound of the excavator at work. If the machine sings, then the soul of the plant sings along. This shared spirit is evident when the machinery 'sings' its best!"

Victor Guськоv, a former CEO of Krasnoyarsk Coal Company and a Hero of Socialist Labor, observed the historic loading ceremony at the Borodinsky mine with obvious pride: "I am truly proud to be here today and be a part of this significant historical event! As they say, 'Blands without people is death,' but people trained in technology can achieve the impossible; and you, miners of Borodinsky, Nazarovsky, and Berezovsky mines, have proven this axiom!"

Maxim Ermakov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Krasnoyarsk Krai, emphasized the importance of coal miners to the region: "Coal mines in our region function like clockwork, like an integral part of a vast industrial mechanism, ensuring that millions of people in our region continue to have access to the basic necessities of life – warmth, electricity, and hot water. I would like to extend my gratitude to the miners for their tireless efforts, their contributions to the economy of Krasnoyarsk Krai and Russia. May you continue to strive for greater success and work together with the same dedication and unity as we see today!"

SUEK-Krasnoyarsk is optimistic that this significant milestone will serve as the foundation for a new chapter in the company's journey, complete with technological advancements, increased operational efficiency, and a commitment to the prosperity and bright future of all.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the leaders and employees of all divisions of our company, the skilled workers on the ground, the engineers, mechanics, veterans, the people whose knowledge and expertise laid the groundwork for our success, and whose perseverance and professionalism continue to propel us forward," expressed Evgeny Yevtuшенко, CEO of AO SUEK-Krasnoyarsk. "We will carry on, grow, adopt cutting-edge technologies, and improve our productivity in the pursuit of lasting prosperity and a worthy future!"

All hail the coal miners of Krasnoyarsk Krai! Their unwavering dedication and resilience have etched a significant chapter in Russia's history.

In the news, the energy sector and finance world are abuzz about the monumental achievement of SUEK-Krasnoyarsk, marking a new era in the coal industry. With the mining of the 2-billionth tonne of brown coal, this milestone serves as a testament to the relentless efforts of the coal miners in Siberia, driving the growth and development of the region and the nation at large.
