Moving the Production Line: SPLAT Global's Strategic Shift

It appears that multinational company, SPLAT Global, known for its oral care products, has made a significant move in the cleaning products market. According to unconfirmed reports from Retail.ru, the company is allegedly shifting its production for the popular eco-friendly washing powder brand, BioMio, from Europe to Russia.

Originating in Denmark, the BioMio line was produced under contract. However, LLC "SPLAT Global" has decided to localize the production within Russia, starting with liquid detergents in Okulovka (Nizhny Novgorod region) and later expanding to dishwasher tablets in Dzerzhinsk.

Post the acquisition of Capella factory in 2022, BioMio business producer, Alexander Vykhodtsev, mentions that over 80 product names have been localized. The investment for a new production line for dry mixtures came in at approximately 300 million rubles, and the company has recently launched the production of three types of BioMio washing powders in 0.5 kg, 1 kg, and 2.4 kg packaging.

The Push for Domestic Raw Materials:If these reports are accurate, this shift could mean that SPLAT Global would rely more on domestically produced raw materials such as calcined soda, food soda, sodium percarbonate, and sodium chloride.

In a business landscape where trade restrictions and geopolitical tensions have been less relevant for 80% of Russian entrepreneurs by summer 2025, as announced by DK.RU, an in-house production line could provide advantages like mitigating risks from international trade disruptions or sanctions affecting raw material imports.

Looking Ahead:While the specifics of the move remain unconfirmed, should SPLAT Global transition its European production to Russia, SPLAT would likely face challenges in terms of environmental compliance and supply chain management. At the same time, it could present opportunities to boost local industry, employ more Russians, and invest in modern, eco-efficient manufacturing technologies.

When looking for the most current or detailed company-specific insights, monitoring SPLAT Global’s official communications or industry trade reports is recommended.

The strategic shift in SPLAT Global's production line for BioMio, their eco-friendly washing powder brand, could lead to an increased reliance on domestically produced raw materials such as calcined soda, food soda, sodium percarbonate, and sodium chloride. In the business landscape of potential trade disruptions and sanctions affecting raw material imports, an in-house production line could provide advantages like mitigating risks and strengthening the local industry.
