City of Düsseldorf Provides Financial Assistance to Various Associations and Initiatives to the Tune of €857,333.54

In the vibrant city of Düsseldorf, Sparkasse - the local savings bank - offers more than just financial services. When you buy a PS-Lottery ticket for five euros, you're not only casting a line for a potential big win, but you're also chipping in four euros towards improving your community, with the remaining euro supporting a range of local projects.

Last year, an impressive sum of 857,333.54 euros was raised through this initiative, which has now been distributed among 242 non-profit associations and institutions in Düsseldorf and Monheim. On a festive morning (5.5.), these organizations received their cheques during a grand ceremony at the town hall's Jan Wellem Hall, graced by Sparkasse board member Dr. Stefan Dahm and Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller.

The joyous faces fill the Jan Wellem Hall, as these funds empower dedicated associations to carry out essential charitable projects. The selection process spanned the entire spectrum of social engagement, encompassing sports and traditional clubs, cultural and welfare institutions, kindergartens, schools, and more.

Since it wasn't feasible to invite all 242 recipients at once, multiple events are planned, with the town hall ceremony welcoming numerous representatives from the fields of tradition and family. Each organization applied for funding for a specific project and proved their non-profit status. The funding amounts ranged from 500 to 25,000 euros, these allocations causing widespread delight among attendees.

Hans-Jörg Kohl from DKG Weissfräcke, Guido Pfeiffer of the Düsseldorf Originals, and others were among the happy recipients. Dr. Dahm expressed satisfaction in supporting such a diverse range of organizations and praised the immense voluntary commitment. He underscored the immeasurable value of volunteering, though Sparkasse made a token contribution through the PS-Purpose contributions.

Over the past years, Sparkasse has contributed over 50 million euros towards community projects, as calculated by Mayor Keller, who expressed gratitude towards the company and all the dedicated individuals in the associations. Once the paperwork was in order, the funds were transferred to the recipients' accounts.

Numerous kindergartens, the Akki association, women's counseling centers, youth career assistance, scouts from Unterrath, shooting and carnival clubs, and more, received assistance on this special day. In the context of charitable projects funded by Sparkasse, the local savings bank, various businesses in Düsseldorf's banking-and-insurance sector, such as DKG Weissfräcke and Düsseldorf Originals, have benefited from their PS-Purpose contributions. These funds have been instrumental in supporting numerous projects across different industries in Düsseldorf and Monheim, including sports, culture, welfare, education, and community service.
