In the heart of Willich, the parish garden played host to a special gathering, marking the 20th anniversary of the Willich Citizens' Buses. The event, filled with warmth and camaraderie, brought together various dignitaries, volunteers, and music enthusiasts.

The day began with a series of political speeches, including a heartfelt address by the Mayor of Willich. Among the esteemed guests were Christian Pakusch, the Mayor himself; Guido Goertz, a State Parliamentarian; and Gregor Nachtwey, the First and Technical Deputy Mayor, all representing politics and administration.

Werner Kruse, the chairman of the event, presided over the proceedings with grace and efficiency. His role was instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the celebration.

The United Men's Choir 1820 Willich, a group renowned for their captivating performances, graced the event with their melodious tunes. Their repertoire included a welcoming performance at the piano, a fitting start to the festivities. The choir, known for their participation in the bus inauguration in 2007 and the celebration of the ten-year anniversary, did not disappoint.

The guests, having listened attentively to the politicians' speeches, found solace and entertainment in the lively music provided by the band "The Triples". Known from the Willich After-Work Market, "The Triples" delivered an energetic performance that had everyone on their feet.

The event was a testament to the dedication of approximately 120 volunteers in Anrath, Schiefbahn, and Willich. Their selfless service was acknowledged and appreciated by the politicians, who took the opportunity to thank them for their service to the city's citizens.

Tafil Pufja, the managing director of the main sponsor, the Willich City Works, was also in attendance. His presence underscored the support and commitment of the sponsor to the cause.

As the sun set, the celebration continued into the evening, ending on a high note. It was a memorable occasion that celebrated not just two decades of the Willich Citizens' Buses, but also the spirit of community and volunteerism that drives them.
