The 21st meeting of the Ministerial Committee between Kuwait and China took place on July 31, 2025, at Bayan Palace. Chaired by Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, the session reviewed progress on key ongoing and future joint projects under the Kuwait-China cooperation framework.

The meeting was attended by several key officials including Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad, Acting Head of the Prime Minister's Diwan Sheikh Khaled Mohammed Al-Khaled, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Al-Majed, and Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat as the Committee Rapporteur.

Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat provided updates on the execution of agreements with China, highlighting rapid advancements in high-level official communications. Notably, four Chinese delegations representing major state-owned enterprises are scheduled to visit Kuwait in the following month to explore investment opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, and other development sectors.

Key areas of cooperation under review include the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, development of the national electrical grid and renewable energy systems, establishment of a low-carbon green system for waste recycling, housing development, wastewater treatment infrastructure, and development of free and economic zones.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Kuwait's commitment to strengthening strategic ties with China, focusing on accelerating large-scale development projects. The vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah aligns with this comprehensive development plan.

Discussions also covered joint efforts to combat desertification and strategies to establish free and economic zones. His Highness directed the committee to reinforce a spirit of initiative and achievement in advancing Kuwait's economic development.

Recent positive indicators in economic growth and the influx of foreign investments reflect the success of the committee's work. These indicators suggest Kuwait's progress toward fulfilling the goals of its comprehensive development plan.

This meeting represents the latest high-level checkpoint in a series of ongoing Kuwait-China collaborations aimed at boosting infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and economic diversification in Kuwait.
