Chemnitz Administration Moves to Former Kaufhof Building

Chemnitz's administration is relocating to the former Kaufhof building. On Wednesday, Mayor Thomas Küter and Konrad Krieger signed a lease agreement, following a decision by the 1st Procurement Chamber of Saxony on September 4, 2025.

The city council tasked the administration in January 2025 to find a new location due to expiring lease agreements at Moritzhof and Alte Post by 2028. After a review request, the 1st Procurement Chamber of Saxony ruled in favor of renting the former Kaufhof building. The administration subsequently signed a lease agreement with the Krieger group, as per the chamber's decision.

Chemnitz's administration will move to the former Kaufhof building, with the lease agreement signed by Mayor Thomas Küter and Konrad Krieger. The relocation is set to provide a new administrative headquarters for the city.
