"Change in endpoint from 4 to 9, along with the introduction of new DVB services"

In the heart of Dresden, a significant transformation is underway in the city's public transportation system. The Dresden transit authority (DVB) has announced adjustments to tram routes 4 and 9, effective from August 11, 2025. These changes include an endpoint swap between these lines, stop renamings, and the addition of a new stop.

One of the key changes for lines 4 and 9 is an endpoint exchange. Starting from August 11, 2025, line 4 will run from Radebeul or Weinböhla to Prohlis, a route previously served by line 9. On the other hand, tram line 9 will run from Kaditz to Laubegast, similar to line 4's current route. The timetable service will take this change into account from August 11, 2025, onward.

Another significant change is the renaming of the tram line 9 stop “Altenberger Straße” to “Emanuel-Goldberg-Platz”. This name change was initiated by the city of Dresden in May.

A new stop called “Florastraße” will be added to tram lines 7 and 12, replacing the former “Rosenstraße” stop. The new stop will better connect the new vocational school center to public transport, as up to 1,600 students are expected to attend the center.

The adjustments in tram routes are intended to accommodate the increased passenger demand on the new route of line 9, which serves the new residential areas of Sternstraße and Old Leipzig Station. To cater to this demand, wider and longer trams, capable of carrying more passengers, will be used on the route of the "9".

These changes are part of broader modifications affecting multiple lines and locations in Dresden, including stop renamings and construction updates. Timetable information services have been updated to reflect these changes from August 11, 2025, but some minor route effects might still not be fully integrated in the system at the announcement time.

Other tram lines and bus lines, such as 7, 10, 12, and bus lines 65, 85, 87, also have related stop renamings on this date, showing a wider network update beyond just lines 4 and 9.

The DVB is committed to improving the transit service in Dresden, and these changes are a testament to that commitment. The adjustments are designed to make public transportation more efficient and accessible for the city's growing population.

The adjustments in the Dresden public transportation system extend beyond tram lines 4 and 9, affecting other lines like 7, 10, 12 and bus lines 65, 85, 87. [1]

The finance industry and transportation sectors are anticipated to see increased collaborations, as these changes could stimulate economic growth, making public-transit more efficient and accessible for the city's growing population. [2]
