Carmelo Anthony Announces Retirement and Shifts Focus to Business Ventures

After a storied NBA career spanning over two decades, Carmelo Anthony has officially retired from professional basketball. The 2025 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced his retirement in 2023.

Since hanging up his jersey, Anthony has been actively involved in various businesses and ventures. He launched a podcast named 7 p.m. in Brooklyn, where he discusses a range of topics with guests from the sports and entertainment worlds.

Anthony's entrepreneurial spirit is also evident in his fashion line, STAYME7O, and his wine label, The Seventh Estate. He is also the founder of Melo7 Tech Partners, a venture capital firm, and Creative 7, a media production firm.

In addition, Anthony has ventured into the cannabis industry with his brand, STAYME7O. The brand, which is named after his jersey number, offers a range of cannabis products.

Despite his numerous business ventures, Anthony recognizes that the period following his playing career is "very pivotal." He emphasized that the developments seen now were the result of long-term planning.

However, Anthony understands that the shift in focus from basketball would not be immediate. He described this transition as potentially stressful and frustrating.

In a move to stay connected to the sport he loves, Anthony will provide color commentary for NBA games in the 2025-26 season, as announced by NBC Sports.

Despite his retirement, Anthony's impact on the basketball world continues to be felt. His accomplishments on the court, coupled with his entrepreneurial spirit off the court, make him a true legend of the game.
