Borealis Revolutionizes Packaging with Borstar Nextension PE Platform
Borealis has introduced its latest innovation, the Borstar Nextension Polyethylene (PE) platform, designed for packaging solutions. This new platform enables mono-material packaging, aiding recycling and waste reduction, and supports EU's packaging regulations.
The Borstar Nextension PE platform offers two high-performance materials. The first boasts double the toughness of first-generation metallocene PE, ideal for form, fill, and seal (FFS) and frozen food packaging. The second material reduces the sealing initiation temperature, perfect for lamination, FFS, and food packaging. This innovation allows downgauging, improves cost efficiency, and supports recycling efforts.
Borealis has also made advancements in recycling technology. Their new compounding line for recyclate-based polyolefins is now fully operational, enabling customer co-development and testing. Meanwhile, Nova Chemicals has launched polyethylene (PE) resins with non-fluorinated polymer processing aids (NF-PPA) for global regulatory compliance.
Borealis' Borstar Nextension PE platform is set to revolutionize packaging, aiding recycling and waste reduction while improving cost efficiency. The platform supports EU's packaging regulations and is joined by advancements in recycling technology from Borealis and Nova Chemicals.
