BMW has made a splash at the latest auto show with the unveiling of two new models – the M2 'special edition' and the M4 CS. These vehicles are the latest additions to BMW's CS line, which stands for Competition Sport and is known for its focus on technologically innovative components, maximum performance, and lightweight construction.

The M2 'special edition' is expected to be a lighter, more powerful, and generally more outrageous iteration of the existing M2. This model, like its predecessors, will likely feature optimised aerodynamics and sportier suspension and drive components, contributing to an enhanced driving experience. BMW has revealed that the M2 'special edition' will be identified by 'technically innovative components and maximum performance'.

The M4 CS, on the other hand, is set to follow in the footsteps of the M4 F82 CS, which was identified by similar characteristics. The M4 CS G82 is expected to be produced in 2024, featuring increased engine power and a focus on lightweight construction.

BMW also revealed its latest CS model, the M2 'special edition', at the show. However, the exact sales start date in Germany is not yet available. The reveal was a design reveal only, with technical information to be released on Wednesday.

The CS line traces its origins back to the 1988 Evolution version of the iconic E30-series M3. Since then, BMW has produced several CS models, including the M3 CS F80 in 2018, the M5 CS F90 between 2021 and 2022, and the M2 CS F87 in 2020. The M3 CS Touring G81 is expected to be produced in 2025, and the M4 CS G82 is set to follow suit.

In addition to the new M2 'special edition' and M4 CS, BMW also unveiled a concept car called the Speedtop shooting brake at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este classic car show. While the Speedtop shooting brake is a concept car, it is a car that can be bought, adding another exciting addition to BMW's lineup.

With the unveiling of these new models, BMW continues to push the boundaries of performance and design, ensuring that its CS models remain at the forefront of the high-performance car market.
