Berlin's Social Transport Ticket to Jump 45% in 2026

Berlin's public transport social security ticket will see a significant price hike from January 1st, 2026. The monthly ticket, currently 19 euros, will increase to 27.50 euros, marking a 45% rise. This change brings the price back to its pre-2022 level of 27 euros.

Sozialsenatorin Cansel Kiziltepe, a politician from the SPD, has confirmed that the social security ticket will continue to be available in 2026. Despite budget constraints, she aims to maintain affordable mobility for those on low incomes. The ticket, last doubled from 9 to 19 euros in April 2023, will now increase again to 27.50 euros.

The social security ticket's price increase to 27.50 euros will take effect on January 1st, 2026. While this is a significant rise, the SPD's Cansel Kiziltepe ensures that the ticket will remain available as a voluntary state service, providing affordable public transport to those who need it most.
