Bangladeshi Entrepreneurs Discuss Economy Enhancement with Kuwait's Commerce Body
On September 16, 2025, a significant step towards a stronger and more collaborative economic partnership was taken as a business meeting was held between a Bangladeshi delegation and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at Al Boom Hall.
The meeting, which marked the beginning of a new chapter in the growing economic partnership between the two countries, was attended by senior officials of KCCI and prominent Kuwaiti businessmen from relevant sectors. H.E. the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the State of Kuwait emphasized the importance of the gathering, stating that it was the beginning of a new chapter in the growing economic partnership between the two countries.
Mr. Firas M. Al-Oda, Assistant Director General of KCCI, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Chamber's commitment to deepening business cooperation. He highlighted Bangladesh's rapidly expanding economy, youthful population, and robust industrial growth in sectors like garments, pharmaceuticals, IT, shipbuilding, renewable energy, and agro-processing as offering significant opportunities for Kuwaiti investors.
The Bangladeshi delegation included companies from diverse industries such as ready-made and knitted garments, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, and renewable energy. The Kuwaiti business delegation planning investments in Bangladesh's healthcare sector includes companies specializing in pharmaceuticals, hospital management, medical equipment, and healthcare services, focusing on improving healthcare infrastructure, introducing advanced medical technologies, and expanding pharmaceutical production in Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Additional Secretary (Export) of Bangladesh's Ministry of Commerce, delivered a presentation on Bangladesh's dynamic business environment, highlighting the country's strategic location, skilled workforce, and demographic advantages. He outlined progress in key sectors and recent infrastructure developments, as well as policy reforms aimed at facilitating foreign investment, and extended an invitation to Kuwaiti business leaders to visit Bangladesh.
The meeting aimed to strengthen economic relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait, explore opportunities in various sectors, and build sustainable trade partnerships. It resulted in a mutual understanding to intensify cooperation between the two countries, with KCCI representatives planning to organize a delegation visit to Bangladesh to assess investment prospects on site.
The Kuwaiti side showed strong interest in increasing imports from Bangladesh and exploring outsourcing collaborations. The shared objective of the intensified cooperation is to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
It is worth noting that a Protocol of Cooperation was signed between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and KCCI in 2016, and this was the first meeting held since that agreement. No new facts were mentioned about the Protocol of Cooperation signed between FBCCI and KCCI in 2016.
In the healthcare sector, Bangladeshi industry representatives presented investment proposals for the Kuwaiti businessmen, aiming to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the growing partnership between the two countries. The meeting concluded with a positive outlook for the future of economic relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait.
