Bakery Express Midwest Opens New Facility in Northern Kentucky
Bakery Express Midwest, a leading bakery company, has officially opened its new facility in Florence, Kentucky. The groundbreaking for the $20 million investment took place in January 2024, and the facility spans an impressive 50,000 square feet.
Lee Crume, CEO of the BE NKY Growth Partnership, hailed the investment as a strong addition to Northern Kentucky's thriving food and flavoring industry. Gov. Beshear also congratulated Bakery Express Midwest on the significant milestone, stating that the new operation builds on the economic momentum seen across the Commonwealth.
The new facility will serve Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee with a fresh daily product line that includes a wide variety of items such as donuts, muffins, cookies, brownies, croissants, bagels, pastries, cupcakes, and other specialty items.
Bakery Express Midwest is not a new entrant to the market. Founded in 1970, Bakery Express Mid-Atlantic Inc. was the first of several companies founded by Charles Burman. Today, Bakery Express of Central Florida, Bakery Express of Central Texas, Bakery Express of Southern California, and Bakery Express Midwest collectively provide fresh bakery products to over 4,000 retail outlets across the United States.
The new facility in Boone County is expected to create over 225 full-time jobs in the region, adding to the 620 employees currently employed by the Bakery Express companies. Art DiLullo, the CEO of Bakery Express Midwest, expressed his excitement about the new location, which operates as a commercial bakery manufacturing facility.
On Monday, the new Bakery Express Midwest facility in Florence, Kentucky, celebrated its grand opening. The city of Frankfort, where the new branch is located, is also celebrating the investment and job creation in the region. The new facility is poised to make a significant contribution to the local economy and the bakery industry as a whole.
