B51 Resurfacing: Temporary Closure Between Mettlach & Besseringen May 5-9
Motorists travelling between Mettlach and Besseringen on the B 51 should prepare for temporary disruptions from May 5 to 9, 2025. The state authority for road construction (LfS) will be carrying out resurfacing work, which has been coordinated with the local municipality and public transport providers.
The roadway will be closed between the 'Am Jungenwald' junction and the 'Britter Straße' (L 158) junction during this period. Drivers are advised to stay informed about current traffic reports and allow extra time for the diversion.
The resurfacing project includes optimizing drainage, renewing road markings, and completing the second phase of repair work following slope restoration. The diversion route U7 from Mettlach will take drivers via the L 158, then through Brotdorf on the L 374, before rejoining the B 51 near Merzig. The opposite direction diversion route U5 follows the reverse path.
The LfS expects traffic disruptions during the resurfacing work. Drivers are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the diversion routes. The name of the specialist company that repaired the slip slope earlier this year is not publicly available.
