Australia's first all-electric vehicle upfitter, AusEV, has announced the addition of the Tesla Model Y to its fleet offerings. This move is a significant step towards advancing transport options in Australia's industry and resource sectors.

Based in Brisbane, AusEV specialises in modifications such as right-hand-drive conversions and additions like extra batteries and solar cells. The company collaborates with Advanced Manufacturing Queensland (AMQ) for conversions and modifications of imported vehicles, demonstrating their capability in adapting various electric vehicles for mining applications.

The Tesla Model Y units, imported from the United States, undergo conversion from left- to right-hand-drive by AMQ. Solar cells mounted on the bonnet of the Model Y are offered as an option to charge the battery. Unlike the Ford F-150 Lightnings that AusEV unveiled earlier this year, the Tesla Model Y's are already right-hand-drive capable.

Edward Kocwa, CEO of Bosscap Group, the parent company of AusEV, expressed excitement about the introduction of the Tesla Model Y to AusEV's line-up. According to Kocwa, the Model Y is not only built for performance, safety, and durability, but it also represents a significant step forward in how the mining sector can transition towards cleaner and smarter fleet solutions.

AusEV's broader offerings probably encompass electric utility and commercial vehicles from other manufacturers adapted for mining through their upfitting expertise. This is implied by Farizon Australia's presence and AusEV’s participation in relevant trade shows. Farizon Australia specialises in electric commercial vehicles for mining and tough conditions.

Joshua S. Hill, a Melbourne-based journalist, has been writing about climate change, clean technology, and electric vehicles for over 15 years. Although Hill's preferred mode of transport is his feet, his reporting on the electric vehicle sector has been instrumental in shedding light on the industry's growth and potential. Hill has been reporting on electric vehicles and clean technologies for Renew Economy and The Driven since 2012.

In addition to the Tesla Model Y and Ford F-150 Lightning, AusEV offers other electric vehicles tailored for mining and industrial fleets, including partnerships to convert and modify vehicles for local conditions. The company's commitment to sustainable transport solutions in the mining sector is evident in their continuous efforts to expand their electric fleet offerings.

  1. The addition of the Tesla Model Y to AusEV's fleet marks a strategic shift in Australia's transportation industry, with an increased focus onelectric vehicles and sustainable solutions, particularly in the resource sectors.
  2. AusEV's collaboration with Advanced Manufacturing Queensland (AMQ) in modifying various electric vehicles, such as the Tesla Model Y, for mining applications, highlights their strong proficiency in technology and adaptation within the industry.
  3. With their broad line-up of electric vehicles tailored for mining and industrial fleets, AusEV's future endeavors continue to gravitate towards finance, lifestyle, and technology advancements in both the transportation and energy sectors.
