ANZhas acquired MacLeod
In a significant move for ANZ's institutional banking division, the Australian multinational banking and financial services company has announced the appointment of Mary MacLeod as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its international and institutional banking division.
Effective from October, MacLeod will take on the responsibility of managing the financial performance and regulatory reporting across ANZ's operations in 33 markets. This role will see her overseeing a vast network that spans across the globe, marking a significant challenge and opportunity for the experienced banking executive.
MacLeod joins ANZ from Deutsche Bank, where she held several senior executive roles, particularly in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Notably, she served as the deputy CEO at ICBC International, further bolstering her international banking experience.
Shayne Elliott, ANZ's CFO, has expressed his excitement about MacLeod's appointment, praising her strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and extensive international banking experience. He believes that her appointment will bring additional strength to both ANZ's finance and IIB (Institutional and International Banking) leadership teams.
In her new role, MacLeod will report directly to ANZ's CFO, Shayne Elliott, and institutional banking CEO, Andrew Géczy. Initially, she will be based in Hong Kong before relocating to Melbourne.
This appointment comes amidst several other recent developments in the banking sector, including the launch of STS Global, the expansion of Eliant Trade Finance in Asia Pacific, and the securing of a US$1.49bn debt facility by Jera Global Markets.
With MacLeod's appointment, ANZ continues to strengthen its leadership team, positioning itself for continued growth and success in the competitive global banking industry.
In her new role, Mary MacLeod will lead ANZ's trade finance and banking-and-insurance operations, overseeing the financial performance of the business in 33 markets as the CFO for its international and institutional banking division. As she transitions from Deutsche Bank, her extensive industry experience in finance and banking-and-insurance sectors will undoubtedly contribute to ANZ's ongoing growth and success in the global banking industry.
