Alberta invites numerous foreign workers through recent immigration rounds
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has been actively inviting foreign workers for provincial nomination across multiple sectors and industries. As of 16 July, the program has issued a total of 2,895 nominations out of its 4,875-nomination allocation for this year.
In the two weeks between 3 and 16 July, the AAIP held six draws. The majority of invitations through these draws were issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream. Four of these draws were through the Alberta Express Entry stream, an enhanced pathway prioritizing the sectors of Construction, Agriculture, Aviation, and Healthcare.
The number of invitations issued varied in each draw, with specific numbers as shown in the table. The minimum score of invited candidates also fluctuated in each draw, as indicated in the same table.
As of 16 July, the Alberta Express Entry Stream - Priority Sectors Draws have issued 244 nominations out of a total allocation of 405 for 2025. On the other hand, the Alberta Express Entry Stream - Law Enforcement Pathway, which has a 2025 nomination allocation of 20, has issued less than 10 nominations so far and no nominations are still to be issued this year.
The Alberta Opportunity Stream, intended for temporary foreign workers who are currently employed full-time in Alberta and have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation, has a 2025 nomination allocation of 2,592. As of 16 July, 1,608 nominations have been issued, leaving 984 still to be issued this year.
The Dedicated Health Care Pathway (Express Entry and non-Express Entry) has a 2025 nomination allocation of 500, with 251 nominations issued so far and 249 still to be issued this year. The total EOIs in the candidate pool for the Dedicated Health Care Pathway are 1,623.
Interestingly, as of 16 July, there are 40,623 Expression of Interest (EOIs) in the candidate pool for the Alberta Opportunity Stream. The AAIP still has 2,311 applications within its inventory to be processed.
It's important to note that, as of now, there are no search results specifically listing the number of invitations and nominations that AAIP will award in 2025 through their pathways. As the year progresses, we can expect more updates from the program regarding their nomination and invitation processes.
