Delhi, India: The accomplished Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari is gearing up to assume the mantle of Vice Chief of the Air Staff, stepping into the shoes of the outgoing Air Marshal S P Dharkar on May 1. This late-April transition comes after Dharkar's retirement on April 30.
With his upward move, Tiwari will continue a lineage that began with Air Chief Marshal A P Singh in October 2024.
On his predecessor's retirement day, Dharkar was saluted with a guard of honor at the Air Headquarters in Vayu Bhawan and paid his respects to the martyred heroes at the National War Memorial.
As Tiwari ascends to this prestigious role, he brings rich military experience along with a strong track record of operational testing of weapons and systems, primarily on the Mirage-2000. His vital contributions during the Kargil conflict are noteworthy.
Tiwari, a native of Siakalpur, Siwan, Bihar, who worked his way through renowned institutions like the National Defence Academy and St. Xavier's in Bokaro, has distinguished himself as a fighter pilot, a qualified flying instructor, and an experimental test pilot.
