A4 Traffic Changes Near Cologne: Expect Delays, Lane Closures Protect Damaged Crossing
Motorists using the A4 in the direction of Olpe near Cologne can expect changes in traffic management over the next two weekends. The exit and entry at the Cologne-Klettenberg junction will be closed on specific nights, and the stretch between Cologne-Klettenberg and Cologne-Eifeltor will be reduced to a single lane. This is to protect the damaged DB crossing structure 'Eifeltor'.
Heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will be directed to the right in both directions during this period. During the day, occasional bottlenecks may occur due to preparatory work at moving construction sites. The local traffic management authorities, such as the City of Cologne's traffic management office, are expected to oversee these changes.
The new traffic management will see two out of three lanes available to road users in both directions indefinitely, with a speed restriction of 40 km/h on the structure. On other specific nights, the A4 in the direction of Aachen will also be single-lane between the Cologne-Eifeltor and Cologne-Klettenberg junctions.
These traffic changes are aimed at protecting the damaged DB crossing structure 'Eifeltor'. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect delays. The local authorities will manage the traffic flow to ensure safety and minimal disruption.
