76-Year-Old Falls for Facebook Investment Scam
A 76-year-old resident of Klein-Winternheim has fallen victim to an investment calculator scam. The victim was targeted through a Facebook advertisement, promising a fidelity investments opportunity. The supposed broker directed the victim to set up a trading account via WhatsApp and transfer 250 EUR to it. When the victim attempted to withdraw the money, the broker blocked her and became unreachable. The Mainz Police Headquarters advises the public to be wary of such offers, stating that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
